These two just might win cutest couple award. Despite having gotten very lost on the way to the Plymouth Meeting Historical Society (they are both from Brazil) they arrived at the shoot all smiles and ready to go. I just loved the energy between them - playful, lighthearted and endearingly respectful of one another.

This was my first time shooting at Tendenza and I was struck by how well-lit the space is; lots of natural light and vibrant colors set off by clean white leather furnishings. Alaina and Doug were the perfect smiling subjects and allowed us plenty of time for a leisurely photo shoot around Rittenhouse Park after their 'first meeting' at Tendenza pre-ceremony.

I am happy to be back to work after a nice, long holiday! Its been quiet here at the blog and I've got lots of gorgeous weddings and portrait sessions to post from the fall and early winter.

This wedding took place at the Cork Factory in Lancaster PA - a fantastic place to shoot a wedding! Jen, Reed and their lovely families win the award for 'most tears shed at a wedding'; you could just feel the love coursing through the air. My favorite part of the day, aside from from the 80's-movie-style high fives they gave their wedding party during their introductions, was the groom's gift to the bride - years worth of emails they exchanged during their courtship, library bound in chronological order in an exquisite black book.

I hope you all had a nice Christmas! I wanted to share a few photos from a recent trip to the National Christmas Museum in Paradise, PA. Laurie got the idea to take a road trip here after seeing the museum written up in her Martha Stewart Living magazine and we ended up having a fantastic time. Just like their website says...its not what you expect!

we realized this was no ordinary museum when we came to the life-size replica of Woolworth's

Here are some favorites from Jen & Jim's engagement session six weeks ago. We met at their apartment, a gorgeous 1920's building, originally the Philadelphia School Board headquarters. After walking around town a bit we went back to their apartment, where I got to meet the rest of the family, the adorable Murphy & Sanders.

Looking forward to Jen and Jim's wedding at the Tendenza next September!

When I heard there was snow in the forecast for Katy and Charlie's tent-wedding at the John James Audubon Center, I was a little...well...nervous. So I planned to arrive a good two hours early to scout out some locations for pictures just in case it was really coming down. Good thing Bob was there early, too, because he told me about the beautiful, hidden back porch off the main house. It offered us shelter from the snow and gorgeous views of the surrounding woods.

Katy and Charlie, despite the difficult conditions, were a pure joy to work with. Looking at these photos reminds me of how truly blessed I am to be able to work with some of the nicest / kindest / loveliest folks the world has to offer :)

This was my first time working with little Julia. Her mom and I planned the shoot for 8AM because the light is nice and Julia is at her best in the morning hours. Julia is full of life and energy and absolutely loved having her picture taken! She seemed to get particularly excited about the bumble bee costume, which I thought she rocked.

I loved the flavor of this wedding: South Philly meets Fairmount Park. Jessica and Chris live in a cute little row home on Iseminger St, which was where Jess and girls got ready that day. I especially loved Jess's flirty, tea length gown, which rustled and danced as she walked.

Michelle and Michael are getting married next summer at the Manor House in Horsham. I love these two because they just seem perfect for one another. Michelle is all smiles, a bundle of energy and emotion, while Michael, her strong and steady counterpart, is a bit more reserved. We had a great time on our shoot, walking around downtown Doylestown chasing down the pockets of light.

John and I made a weekend trip out of Courtney and Jon's late-September beach wedding. The Seaview, built in 1914, has lots of charm and history. When we checked in the day before the wedding, we enjoyed walking around the property, getting a feel for the layout and taking in the gorgeous views. Courtney, Jon and their families were an absolute joy to work with and the day, complete with warm sun and blue skies, had a magic all its own.

Special thanks to TJ for coming all the way out to the Jersey Shore to accompany me!

This was a fun shoot; Ilana and Brian could not have been more accommodating as we drove around Germantown looking for cool backdrops. Our first stop was the Awbury Arboratum - a first for all three of us - and was not disappointing: beautiful open fields, wooded trails and a big old house with a wrap around porch.

A recent trip to Georgetown, where John and I spent about two thirds of our courtship. Our long distance relationship was not always easy, but we made lots of fun memories in those two years. Here we are at Dahlgren Chapel of the Sacred Heart, where we attended mass many a Sunday.

Kris and I photographed May's sister's wedding last fall. Now it was May and Owen's turn to play the bride and groom...and they sparkled! The weather looked a bit iffy that morning, however, as luck would have it, the rain held out and May and Owen were able to have their ceremony outdoors in the little sunken courtyard off the main house.

Carter is one of those babies that just makes your heart melt. He's a go-with-the-flow and extremely sweet natured little guy. He was having such a good time, playing in the park behind his house, that when it was time to leave, he cried for a whole five seconds...and that was that!

Lisa and Andrew, who are Brooklynites, met at Penn more than six years ago and thought it fitting to have their wedding in Philadelphia. To keep things simple, they decided against a big wedding party and opted instead to have only their maid of honor and best man stand by them for their candle-lit ceremony. I was particularly struck by the gorgeous flowers at this wedding; rich shades of orange, red and gold.

Jacki and I met early in the morning for this shoot when the light was soft. Her two boys were incredibly dapper dressed in their black sweaters and gray pants, the perfect backdrop to their sparkly blue eyes.

The closest thing to a shot of the boys together: Liam was not a fan!

Paula and Brian did what lots of couples decide to do in order to maximize their time with guests at their wedding; they opted to see each other before the ceremony. We began the getting ready photos at the Racquet Club, planned their first meeting for the 'red room' and continued with portraits at Eighteenth Century Garden in Independence Park. The weather and light were perfect that day!

I had a great time on this shoot! Sarah and Jeremy are easy, breezy laid-back fun. We meandered all through the park and the surrounding neighborhood for this session, looking for little pockets of light and interesting backgrounds; pastorious never leaves me empty handed!
Sarah and Jeremy will tie the knot in late March at one of my favorite little venues: William Penn Inn.

This was my first wedding in September and it was a great way to kick off the fall season - Erin & Jason, who are high school sweethearts, couldn't have been nicer or more easygoing. Add to that the warm sunshine and blue skies and I was in photography heaven! Some of my favorite shots of the day ended up being from the black & white film batch (not surprising). You can tell which ones are the film images because of the more pronounced grain, which I think adds a really beautiful texture...

my staycation breakfast

I am on staycation this week! That's right: five glorious days of unscheduled time to do whatever it is I feel like! September was crazy with weddings, portrait sessions and client meetings and October/November are shaping up to be about the same, so a few weeks ago I decided to block off some quiet time in advance with only one rule: no appointments.

In addition to returning emails several times a day, checking voice messages, uploading, rendering and editing last month's images, I also have plenty of time to visit the library to read magazines, meet Laurie at Willow Grove Mall or putter around in my kitchen doing nothing in particular. Bliss.

Here is a shot of my breakfast this morning, my extra time made evident by the freshly squeezed and sieved orange-grapefruit juice, bonus cup of green tea and spicy chicken sausage and red pepper burrito with melted Irish Dubliner. It was pretty yummy.

I love a new venue and the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia was no exception. Tucked back off of Germantown Avenue in Mt Airy, I had driven past this property countless times but had never stopped by to explore. Its a beautiful place for a wedding: lots of gorgeous old trees, stone buildings, winding walkways & rose gardens.

Renee and Morris: thank you for being a pure joy to work with from beginning to end! I hope you love the images as much I as loved capturing them.

I fell in love with Amy and Tom months ago when they first came to meet with me to see if I'd be a good candidate for their wedding photographer. That night almost three hours later we were still chatting about anything and everything: how they'd been together for over ten years...their pet lizard, Norbert...their love of the Phillies and Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel on Friday nights.

Because wedding season is in full swing, I have a lot less time to put together elaborate blog posts, but I won't let that stop me from posting a few favorites here. Special thanks to my dear friend and 'competitor' Laurie, who was kind enough to accompany me that day.
